Southover Foods is upping its Food Service offering of gluten-free, dairy-free and vegan sweet treats. The Brighton-based company is keen to ensure they have products to offer their customers that suit all dietary requirements.
Research suggests that in 2018 sales of meat-free foods were forecast to reach £598m with more than 3.5 million Britons switching to a plant-based diet. Vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free – ‘Snacks and deserts’ was the most significant subcategory on Google UK, interest in this group is one of the most popular categories based on search volume alone. 
Southover Foods has formed a partnership with Yorkshire-based ProperMaid, a unique and innovative brand passionate about baking original hand made cakes with a twist.
ProperMaid, a Great Taste Award winner, believes the key to their success is their passion for ‘proper’ ingredients – the majority sourced from Yorkshire, ‘proper’ artisan production methods (with no artificial ingredients or preservatives) and innovative and unusual cake flavours.
Southover Foods will stock ProperMaid’s ‘Made without’ range – a range that the cake makers say “They might be ‘made without’ but rest assured they still retain all the taste and uniqueness of our other award-winning cakes”.

Gluten Free and Dairy Free Ginger and Lemon Cake
A spiced ginger sponge filled and topped with lemon icing and drizzled with lemon curd. Finished with cubes of crystallised stem ginger.
Gluten Free and Dairy Free Victoria Vanilla Cake
A vanilla sponge sandwiched with vanilla filling and raspberry jam. Finished with sweet snow.
Gluten Free and Dairy Free Berry Burst Cake
A triple layer white and red sponge filled with blueberry icing and cranberry preserve. Covered and topped in a purple ombre blueberry icing and finished with cranberries and silver dust.
Gluten Free Moist Carrot Cake
Fresh grated carrots in a cinnamon sponge. Filled and topped with cream cheese icing and sprinkled with apricots and an orange curd drizzle.
Gluten Free Raspberry and White Chocolate Cake
A moist triple layer Victoria sponge filled with raspberry jam and white chocolate icing. Topped with raspberry icing, white chocolate shards and raspberry dust.
Vegan Double Chocolate Cake
A moist chocolate sponge filled and topped with rich chocolate icing. Finished with a sprinkle of cocoa nibs.
Vegan Cookies and Cream Cake
A rich chocolate double layer sponge filled and topped with vanilla and cookie icing and sprinkled with cookies and cream pieces.
