Recognition at this year’s British Charcuterie Awards 2019

Last month some of the team at Southover enjoyed a wonderful day out at the BBC Countryfile Live show for the final judging of this year’s British Charcuterie Awards, the sun shone on thousands of visitors and some of our products!

We were thrilled to scoop a Silver medal for our Sussex Cured New York Style Pastrami, and a Bronze medal for our Sussex Cured Smoked Home Cured Cooked Back Bacon.

Now in its second year, the British Charcuterie Awards was founded by award-winning food writer, broadcaster and journalist Henrietta Green, it is the first national and annual independent Charcuterie Awards.

Over 450 products were entered this year, the preliminary judging was held in June with 59 Gold, Silver and Bronze Award winners being shortlisted for the finals across eight classes. Judges included charcuterie experts, butchers, chefs, food writers and broadcasters.

Reflecting on the final judging day at Blenheim Palace, we feel so proud to be officially acknowledged for our two winning products, the team work so hard to create premium, quality traditional charcuterie that stands out from the rest, to get the recognition from a panel of those ‘in the know’ encourages us to keep trying even harder!
