We love working with local businesses, it’s at the heart of what we do. We make award-winning cooked meats and source the best local food on offer, we like to share these products with those on our doorstep. Local farm shops and delis are a perfect outlet for our produce so we’ve listed a few of our favourites below.
Middle Farm Farm Shop, Lewes
This shop has been going for more than fifty years which says it all – it has a real focus on the quality of produce and stocks more Sussex produce than any other retailer. It’s a great shop to spend time browsing around, it has a huge variety of different products from the finest meats, cheese, dressings, pickles & preserves, ice-cream, seasonal fruit and veg and lots more – guaranteed you’ll walk out with a full basket!
The Sussex Produce Company , Steyning
This is an award-winning shop that started off as a greengrocer, the owners place a real emphasis on the long-standing relationships they have with Sussex producers – Southover Foods being one of them. The shop is visually stunning, vibrant in colour offering great produce such as fruit & veg, meat & fish including our popular Southover Honey Roast Farmhouse Gammon, dairy, beer & wine, bread & cakes and store cupboard goods including rice, pasta, pulses etc. Alongside the shop is their café which serves up fantastic locally sourced food – you can choose from breakfast and lunch menus – they even serve a Sunday Roast option.
The Grange Farm Shop, Crawley Down
This farm shop stocks a varied selection of produce, from the cupboard basics including eggs and bread to sweeter treats like biscuits and chocolates. It also offers meat boxes of which customers can make up your own if they’d prefer. Aside from food there are products from The Grange Farm Shops’ gift section including handmade jewellery bone china cups and a large range of greeting cards. Their hamper service is popular, great for Christmas gifts as they can start are little at £15 – you could even include our very own Southover Farmhouse Plain Ham as they stock this as well as lots of treats from our Food Service offering including various flavoured pies.
The Barn Coffee Shop & Restaurant, Southdown’s Garden Centre Shop
The Barn Coffee Shop & Restaurant is set in a stunning oak framed barn that’s located in the South Downs Nurseries and Garden Centre – a great place to visit with a large choice of indoor and outdoor living there is lots to see and buy. It provides a unique dining experience with its breakfast and afternoon tea offerings proving popular with visitors. The varied menu focuses on fresh produce, and dishes that cater for every taste, we provide a range of product’s from Southover’s Food Service section including a selection of different cheeses – brie, Applewood cheddar, halloumi and red Leicester. Their baristas serve a specialist range of quality coffees which is always a good thing!
The Village Deli, Storrington
Like Southover Foods, The Village Deli is a Great Taste winner, we have received them for our products but The Village Deli has been recognised as a Great Taste Retailer. This team really make it their business to know their supplier stories, there’s no question they can’t answer about the produce they stock. They hold regular tasting sessions in the Deli so their customers can meet the makers in person – a valuable experience for producers like us as we get to hear direct feedback. We provide The Village Deli with products from our Sussex Cured range including Southover Cooked Beef, Southover New York Style Pastrami and Southover Honeyroast Farmhouse Ham.
