The Lunch! Exhibition was last week and we had a great time.  As usual, the event’s short two-day schedule meant that we were busy from start to finish with lots of people keen to try our range of products.

With such a solid footfall we could have been pushed to give everyone our full attention, but we succeeded, making contact with a lot of new customers and reinforcing our ties to existing trade.  It was, as with previous years, an outstanding success and we’re glad we’ve been able to be a part of this event since its inception in 2009.

The Lunch! Exhibition has been hosted at the Old Billingsgate on the banks of the Thames every year and whilst it has proved to be a great venue it seems that success is pushing the show onto pastures new.  From next year the whole event will be hosted at a new venue in London.  Watch this space for more details.

Old: 11th August 2011

It’s that time of year again and we will be attending the Lunch! Exhibition as we have been since the event first launched in 2009.  It’s a smaller trade show than most, lasting for only two days, but there is a lot more focus on doing business than you would see at one of the bigger events.

Preparations are already underway here at Southover and we’ll be looking forward to a really busy show.  The Lunch! Exhibition is all about the food-to-go market, which is currently doing very well despite ongoing economic pressure.  We’ve done really well at Lunch! Every time we’ve attended because it’s such a great format and we’re hoping this year is no exception.

We’ve got a lot of great products to share as always and we’ll be available throughout the two-day event to talk about our ranges of award winning cooked meats, savouries, cakes and much, much more.  See you there!

We took some new products on recently that were something of a change of pace for us.  Daymer Bay Iced Teas and Vittles Desserts.  We haven’t done a range of desserts for a long time because we couldn’t find anything that suited our demands.  It’s not easy getting robust hand made products that all our customers are going to like, but Martin Zalesny is a true chef and has delivered exactly what we’re after.

The Daymer Bay drinks are something else, too.  All natural and highly original, these products really tickled our fancy, as we know our customers come to us for products that stand out from the crowd.  In a market saturated by fruit juices and flavoured water it’s refreshing to see a product that has returned to a rather more traditional, refined taste and given it a healthy dose of modernity.

Older: 22nd March 2011

We really enjoyed the IFE this year. It was mid-March and the weather was just starting to turn a corner, which left us with a feeling of positive anticipation. The food service industry is very reliant on the weather and can often sag when it turns nasty outside so when you attend a tradeshow at the beginning of the season and the sun is shining you tend to take it as a good sign.

It was a very busy four days, but then it always is, and we were hoping to generate a lot of good leads from the footfall. Interest is one thing, but we were after generating solid future business and we weren’t disappointed. Our cooked meats impressed a lot of people and having BRC accreditation carried a lot of weight with many of our visitors.

We’re going to get some good returns from this year’s big show and that’s going to make for a busy summer. Hopefully the sun will keep shining throughout.
