Latest News The bigger the show, the more likely it is to fail. At least that’s how it feels before you arrive at a show big enough to fill a sizeable chunk of the Birmingham NEC, but when Southover turned up at the F&D Exhibition this year nothing could have been further from the truth. Success was a given and it appeared in the form of a seemingly endless stream of new business. Steve Pearce, company MD, had this to say:
“To see such activity from the outset is very encouraging and for so much of it to be new business is a great indicator for the year to come.”
With a scorcher of a summer predicted business is set to boom in the catering industry and everyone seems to be on the lookout for that special new product, which is where Southover comes in. The selection of award winning cooked meats and speciality foods on show at the Southover stand were a great success, generating a lot of interest in passing punters; products like the new More Food round cakes were definitely catching peoples’ eye, as were the Hand Made Cake Company’s cupcakes.
The most popular products at the stand, though, were the Southover Cooked Meats, which offer outstanding quality at realistic prices. Also on show were Higgidy’s pies, quiches and tartlets as well as perennial favourites Kate’s Cakes and MacSween Haggis.
The show lasted four days from Sunday through to Wednesday and saw a lot of footfall from catering businesses keen to network and find new suppliers, but there was also a lot of activity from suppliers looking for new clients. As a result, Southover has been able to consider a wide range of new products that may well make an appearance before the season is out.
As the weather gradually thaws out and people start to venture back into the outside world business is starting to pick up and there could be a whole load of new products to meet demand so watch this space!
